Climate change is one of the most significant global policy challenges of our time, changing the way we live and how we do business. Customers and investors have come to understand the risk it poses for long-term investment performance, as well as other non-financial risks.

Mitigating and adaptating to climate change demands a whole-of-societal commitment, but the scale of the challenge differs widely. WA is an energy intense and trade dependent economy. We are also particularly vulnerable to environmental changes. The role of local efforts therefore cannot be ignored.

At the same time, there is immense opportunity for WA businesses to be leaders in innovating to decarbonise, given our abundance of land, sun, wind, salt water and critical minerals.

This offers the potential to create new industries, markets and jobs, underpinning a more diversified and climate resilient WA economy.
